Oh ye of little faith...........
To those who doubted, disbelieved, and disparaged.........

Long Pants, current cup holders, and long-time aficionados of the FFL, who have graced the top of the league on so many occasions, should never have been doubted.
Dan Pet Rescue, who have topped the league for so much of this season, looked odds on to go through (to me anyway)........but........ read on

Scores for the first round of the FFL Cup are as follows:

Long Pants 15 Dan Pet Rescue 3
Anything but Bottom 5 Have some of that 2
Soon to be Black Magic 6 Last Years Heroes 1
Luis Suarez ate my Hamster 10 Andy’s Johnson FC 6

I’m not sure when Black Magic (current total 107) last scored six in a single weekend, but it was enough to stub out Ted’s feeble effort.
Ditto Anything but bottom who celebrate a rare weekend of joy — maybe next year Alistair ?
Andy's Johnson FC rather predictably left this shambles of a competition at the first hurdle.

So the 2nd round (Quarter Finals) of the FFL Cup looks like this:

Long Pants vs Huth did that Vaart
Anything but bottom vs Enrique’s m,y Hero
Physical Presence vs Mario and the rest
Black Magic vs Luis Suarez ate my......

Quarter Final Matches will be played over the weekend of 6th April.

Regards
The Cup Committee

To add to an already exciting FFL Season, the FFL Cup has been delayed to provide a climactic tumult of excitement to the season (or if I’m being honest — I forgot about it).
Whatever, the draw for the first round of the FFL Cup has been made, and ties will be played THIS WEEKEND — yes, THIS WEEKEND.

The first round ties are as follows:

LONG PANTS vs DAN PET RESCUE
ANYTHING BUT BOTTOM vs HAVE SOME OF THAT
BLACK MAGIC (SOON TO BE) vs LAST YEARS HEROES
LUIS SUAREZ ATE MY ... vs ANDY’S JOHNSON FC

The other teams have byes into the 2nd round which will be played over the weekend of 6th April.
Usual rules/procedures..... the team scoring the highest points in matches played this weekend(Sat, Sun, Monday only) will progress into the next round. In the event of a draw then replay will be the following weekend — if still no winner, then Ted’s Special Countback rule will be applied to establish the winner.

Full draw attached to earlier eamil, as a spreadsheet.

CALLING TILLY

Many teams appear to benefit from a far eastern break. Bodhinaga never performed well until after he visited India. Alex hoped to improve by visiting Thailand and now Ted believes he will profit by cruising down he South China Sea. So my question is to Tilly .... where do you take your holidays?

As ted jets off for a 2 week cruise of the far east, it's the perfect opportunity to overtake him and close the gap on top-placed-tilly. Will bale and saurez dive in the snow? Or stay on their feet to win me vital points?

With 3 Kirkmans in the top 5 and tilly way ahead on top, it is a good job that Ray is doing it for the rest of the kohn's with his consistently competitive side. Come on sir Alex! What's occurring?

Objective assessment of management

It is rare that one is presented with the opportunity to conduct an objective assessment of the effectiveness of one of FFL's esteemed set of managers. However, Alex's absence for December allows us to undertake the following evaluation.
1. His team has achieved 93 points so far: that averages at 25 per month.
2. When he returns; if his team has gained more than 25 in his absence, this proves that they do better without him. So his management will be judged as counter productive: poor management!
3. When he returns; if his team has gained less than 25 points, it will be shown that his behaviour was negligent in abandoning his team mid-season: poor management!

Great win for the Owls last night and Messi scored a fantastic goal and finished with a nice flip!

Lets hope QPR can become good at defending now if they end up signing Dawson!

Great start by my boys:
4 defenders played - 4 clean sheets 1 goal.
2 midfielders played = 1 goal 1 assist.
Hopefully Aguero's knee will not be completely buggered and the attack will contribute soon!

Top two managers will be together on an early reconnaissance mission for next season tonight - we'll try and give some pointers to Sir Alex too, who seems to have lost his way.
Up The Owls!!

The new Realtime Oction Bid faciltation machine (ROB for short) was a stunning success ... many thanks to Tilly for, yet again, demonstrating his expertise ... and patience with those who exppressed frustration at its tiny teething troubles. The small adaptations that would improve its performance include all of the following:
1. Once a player has been shown; let's not see him reappear again and again
2. The option for the octioneer to skip back a player if he or she inadvertently presses the 'next player'
3. Provide age-related weightings so that the older the manager, the less time be given to younger players to outbid him

Additional items

- There was a strong denial by Dan Pet Rescue that their manager had succeeded in planting a worm within the fantasy league website that would automatically credit his team with additional points. (The CIA have been trying to get in touch with Tilly for his amazing ability to agree that if there were any website to penetrate, he could Hackett)
- Bodhinaga was seen peeping through Ben's secret FFL preparation office to uncover what dastardly bidding tactics he was preparing (Ben spends a great deal of time on his computer typing strange words ... obviously a code)
- Neil has given up on Swansea and is thought to be focusing again on targeting his London-based players; Cudicini and Wilshire; in the expectation that one or both might actually play this year.
- John Terry might not be available as his graphic words about Ferdinand were not a correct description: so, as they were uttered in public before thousands of people, he may be subject to prosecution under the law of slander!

Important notice: all further news items will be posted on the Tilly noticeboard
