Tilly's Messageboard

Ted & Alex are quite right. I must call my players for today into my office to give them a good talking to. I want Malouda to score against Newcastle, Van Persie to score against Aston Villa, Bowyer to score against Fulham, Crouch to score against Liverpool and, as for next Tuesday, Stoke's Huth and Man City's Hart should ensure a no-score draw (almost like the Cup Final). Hmmm... perhaps I shouldn't have given away my plans to opposing managers. Only after the final game should I concentrtae my attention on those 2 speeches I'll have to give at the oction!

Raymondo you may have been there done it before but just remember your son also has three titles to his name and all of them I chose my team and was in the oction!!! Buying shearer and then ben picking rest of team not to much to shout about!!! Never the less your record in recent years is outstanding and I will congratulate you IF you win the title but I've had a serious talk with the players and to lose the crown of most titles will not go without a fight!!! C'MON ARGENTINA let's get that double!!
I know the fat lady is warming up in the wings ready to take her standing ovation, BUT...... it's not over yet. There are two weekends left in the FFL Season, and lots of points up for grabs, so..... all this talk of presentations and retaining the trophy is, well, a little early for my liking.
I know it wont be me who causes any upset (except in the Cup), but Sir Alex and Ben should not accept this bluster from Jose Raykohnio, and fight on until the final whistle of the final game is blown. We are, after all, English.
Land of Hope and Glory, etc, etc,
In the past 4 years, Long Pants has won the trophy 3 times. The only year it was not won was when travelling in the USA at the time of the oction meant that the team was not actually chosen by the most outstanding manager of the FFL. However, despite pressure from adoring fans and his fanatical Chairman, Sir Harry Hatchet-Job, Ray has declined the idea of keeping the famous trophy permanently. This is partly due to the fact that he is the most modest person in the world today (and, indeed, he often boasts of this fact to his detractors!), and also partly due to the fact that his co-manager and long-term partner objects to the notion that it will always be there for dusting! So when the next oction is set (any idea of dates and venue yet?) there will be no need to create another Jules Rimet (yes, I know Long Pants has often been compared with the 1970 Brazilian team)as Ray will magnanimously award the original trophy to himself on a strictly temporary basis.
Sir alex would like to thank the cup committee for re scheduling such a big occasion...lord Ted you knew it was coming from me haha!!
As principle member of the FFL Cup Committee, I draw to your attention rules five to seven of the FFL Cup Competition as agreed in the inaugural cup of 2003/3:
5. In the event of a draw, the match will be re-played on the next (Premier League) weekend.
6. In the event of a further draw a penalty Shoot Out will be played - see rule 9 - Penalty Shoot-outs
7. Games will be played over the nominated "Cup" weekends only. Cup weekends will be selected to provide as full a fixture list as possible. However, only games played on the weekend will count (eg: Saturday/Sunday/Monday) - ie if one of your players doesn't have a game that weekend, then his score will be nil points - tough.
--------------------------------------------------
However, given the standing of the managers/teams involved, and tha fact that this is after all the Cup Final, the Cup committee proposes, for this one special occasion, that the Cup Final will take place on the final Premier League weekend of the season (ie Sunday 22nd May).
The downside of this decision is that there could be another draw, with no further PL games to play. If this happens then the trophy will be held jointly by the two finalists.
I trust that this will satisfy Sir Alex and his team, but your (general comments) are requested (ney expected !)
Lord Ted I feel the last weekend of the month is the only option as the rules did state a full fixture list must be in place and although you say we have both got 2 city players yours are injured and one don't play for city. Where as my much depleted team could do with doubling my team members if we wait till last weekend.. I think you know my captain will be back then!!
Despite his problem of premature exclamation, Alex is correct - the FFL Cup final ended in a thrilling (?) 3-3 draw.
I'm gutted that Kieren Gibbs gets his first game of the league campaign and costs me two points. As a result his season total of minus 2 means the cup goes to a replay. Cup rules state that the replay must happen on the next weekend (ie this weekend, when the points from the FA Cup Final will NOT count - only the nine PL games will count) As we both have two city players in our teams then this shouldn't make a great deal of difference. So that's it then, the replay will take place this weekend. MAY THE BEST TEAM PREVAIL.
Being eager I've done the math early Ted. We have both scored 3 points this week scoring one goal one assist and conceding 5 tight as you like!!! However you have Cole to play tomorrow but if he fails to score we have identical points I think!!
Earlier message missed off Monday's game. Revised list is:
Saturday - 07 May 2011

Everton v Man City
Newcastle v Birmingham
West Ham v Blackburn
Tottenham v Blackpool
Sunday - 08 May 2011

May the best man win - Bring it on !!
